Why to replace physical servers by virtual servers

Now a day’s virtualization has a great importance in building an IT infrastructure. Virtual servers rapidly used to run business applications. But, there is still a heavy demand of physical servers. Its depend on your business goals or priorities that either your IT infrastructure need physical server or virtual server. Now question in this rapidly changing IT world, which server is better? If we take the real life example then

“Dedicated servers always use 30%-50% of their actual capacity to operate. The remaining capacity used by buffer to absorb occasional resource usage spikes. By virtualizing that server, the un-used resource can be used by application that need it.so by using virtualization, you can get maximum output.

Why virtual servers get high priority over physical servers

By means of virtualization, we can have more than one server on one physical server that will run parallel as it is running on different physical computers concurrently. With comparison to physical server it was noticed or counted that by means of virtualization, minimal cost could be achieved to high significant level. This factor show that the success of virtualization in the field of computer and IT infrastructure.

The management of datacenters may become efficient by means of virtualization. If virtualization approach planned and implemented accurately or properly then virtual servers may be potentially help the IT infrastructure and thus virtualization technique can become more popular in data centers.

Performance

Virtual server vs. physical server

In order to determine the performance tradeoffs between physical and virtual server different experiments conducted that was associated with setting up environment with virtual server as well as physical server. The applications like DNS server, mail server, database server and mail server run on physical and virtual servers in order to do the comparison.

Response time of database server, Ethernet traffic load, FTP server response time and HTTP response time on physical and virtual server was measured over a continuous trending time period.

In all cases response time from virtual server is always remain high than physical server at any given time.

So due to high availability and centralization on datacenters, virtual servers rapidly used in IT infrastructure instead of physical servers.
